PRODUCT
We’re the customer experts and advocates. Our teams work on the end-to-end product lifecycle; from understanding the motivations and needs of our customers and partners, to designing and testing hypotheses, to creating industry-leading experiences for luxury shoppers, sellers and service providers. We set our Product vision and achieve our strategy in close partnership with teams across the business.

LISBON
Our Lisbon office is located in Portugal’s cosmopolitan capital. In this office, Farfetchers like to have catch ups in the ball pit or creative moments by the grand piano!

THE ROLE
You will report to the design manager of the area and this role is for a designer with experience working within a diverse team (design, engineering, and product management). As a Junior Product Designer, you are expected to have knowledge of design methods and practices to help your team understand and make sense of their users’ needs and behaviours. You will have technical knowledge of web or native user interface and user experience design to ensure that the experience our customers have when using our products is appropriate, effective, and coherent. You have a portfolio of examples that demonstrate your ability to understand a problem, identify value-creating opportunities, and your team’s intent.

WHAT YOU´LL DO

  • You’ll work with your team (product managers, engineers, researchers and others) in defining the problem space and desired customers outcomes. Contributing with solutions to improve the customer experience that meet their high-level goals and needs.
  • You’ll help on defining hierarchy of user needs for the design project (use cases, heuristics), making sure that when customers interact with your product the experience is effective and consistent with our brand.
  • You’ll work with engineering and product managers to bring your understanding of how customers interact and behave with products to ensure that they share your conviction in a solution.
  • You’ll support the planning and execution of workshops to help align intent and understanding of business and customer goals, distilling and sharing this with other teams.
  • You’ll use your expertise of interaction design in micro-interactions and also at task and flow level. Creating provocations and prototypes to help the team build better products and features for our customers.
  • You’ll advocate for your users and champion user-centered design to achieve delightful user experiences.
  • You’ll work in partnership with engineering teams and ensuring any design specifications are clear and well-understood by your team. And you’ll understand your area’s technology and use these to ensure product decisions are made within those constraints.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You are enthusiastic and you have experience with visual design.
  • You are experienced in designing products for web or native channels, using tools like Figma.
  • You can share the importance and value of a collaborative design systems and have experience contributing to and working with them.
  • You have excellent collaboration skills, and being able to constructively direct action within teams.
  • You design based on evidence and you’re always unbiased. You prototype to test and learn. You can prove the impact of your designs, you think lean, and you’re comfortable with pivoting.
  • You understand how to select and develop appropriate methods for prototyping and when to apply them as tools to remove risk.
  • We don’t expect a formal degree, but your depth and domain of knowledge are equivalent to that of a BA/BSc/MA in HCI, Information Systems, Computer Science, Graphic Design, or similar.
